"I have had multiple insurance policies with State Farm over many years and generally had positive experiences. I usually purchase annual policies and pay in full to keep things simple. This year, I sold a property and believed the rental dwelling policy ended in May 2025 unless renewed. In August, I received a notice for a past-due balance of $104. When I called my local office, the representative confirmed in writing that no balance existed. A month later, I was again told I owed the balance due to a “grace period” of coverage after my policy term ended. I asked to speak with the agent, Wade Flowers, who was dismissive and at one point asked, “Do you want me to pay it for you?” I explained my concern was not the amount but the lack of transparency, conflicting information, and customer service. Despite assurances, he did not return calls as promised, choosing to email me instead. Even State Farm’s hotline could not see the balance, and only after being transferred to the local office was I asked to provide my credit card over an unsecured line. I paid to protect my credit, but the process felt inconsistent and unprofessional. The issue was not $104. It was the unclear billing practices, contradictory information from different parts of State Farm, and poor handling by the agent. For some, $104 could be the difference in paying a bill or buying groceries, so clarity and professionalism matter."
